Good morning, Prague

Poser

This guy crossed the Charles Bridge at 6am and found me shooting with my SLR. He then posed for a shot. It was underexposed...but there's always photoshop to save it .....

Bony church in Czech

The Sedlec Ossuary is a weird Church near Prague. WIth its sacred earth from Golgotha,it was a desirable burial ground, but after some years, many bones were dug up due to failure to pay rent for the grave.....

....these bones end up here. From outside, nothing seems unusual .....

.....but you can see some medieval artist had taken liberty to create macabre showpieces from these bones

No shortage of raw material here, anyone can have a go !

Field of gold

Germany is big on enviromental policies - fields of rapeseed and wind farm propellers dotted the country side..... why do they call these rapes anyway ?

....work is so far from my mind now.

Mozarty Salzburg

Would so many people come here if not for Mozart ? Maybe not as much.
Its a nice medieval city with the cobbled streets and all, and a castle of course, but these are everywhere in Europe.

A group of posers along the street at about 5pm or so. This is a holiday of some sorts and lots of people gather at the river singing and dancing. Still have not figure out what holiday it is, but glad to take a break....even though I barely started work.
What do I see in the crystal ball ?

Mr Gudrum Bose

Here lies the grave of Mr Gudrum Bose....and he really knows how to choose his site ....up on a lofty perch facing the castle Neuschwanstein !

Its Location, location, location

Yes its true, the fairy tale castles exist amongst the dream like landscape of deep lakes, and blue skies and towering pines. Closeups encounters of these castles are not as spectacular .....but viewed from afar they look totally fitting within the pages of childhood fairytale books.

Food....and food !

Four hungry and bewildered travellers passed by a field of gold and knocked on the door of a seemingly unappetizing eatery in Bavaria along the Romantic Road ......

....and were rewarded with glorious food !

Day 1 - the landing

Straight off the airport, feeling totally refreshed after sleeping through most of the Sin-Frankfurt leg. In fact, slept so much I did not manage to finish the only in-flight movie I chose.

The trip to the hotel was surprisingly brief ; the second surprise was the very nice hotel with a large courtyard and arbors bursting with the lilac Wisteria bloom - which turned out to be short-lived and were disappeared in a week or so.

The church bell rang as we made our way for lunch at the streetside cafetaria , which was an adventure - the menu was in German and both ladies running the place speak not a word of English. They had to take out samples to show us what was offered - spaghetti, frozen cod fish package, sausages...whatever. I went for the cod, and hoped it will not served with a thick slab of cheese. Thankfully, the poached fresh fillet was totally palatable and for about 4 Euro, unbeatable !

Incidentally, its called pangasius naturel.

The church bell rang again as we made our way back.

With technology, I was soon seeing the family again - albeit within the LCD of the laptop. It was like I never left home .... good !
