Dilapidated

Knock knock....no one's home.
Like the civility of French Football team.
At night, I watched the very entertaining movie Amélie , which is at the other end of the French spectrum....it really boosted my mood.

les miserables

Warning, what you see is not going to be pretty ....

Football injury and gout is making my day really miserable. I could not sleep last night, the pain is excruciating. I am incapable of leaving the room today, and almost incapable of making my way to the loo even. Yesterday, I stumbled to the com doctor only to find he could gave me 4 tablets of painkillers - if I need more I need to come again next day - this is to prevent drug dependency - how thoughtful. The outside pharmacies do not stock any colchicine either (we tried 4), and I would have to make advance reservation and come again next day. My colleague helped me to collect in the morning and had it sent to my room....without them they may find me rotted some weeks later.....

...last night, half asleep due to fever, I watched Brazil dissected Chile 3-0. I hope they will meet Spain in Final....

Argentina vs Mexico

Since the swimminng pool is not opened, I drag my aching feet and restless heart for a spin around rural farming region around Radebeul West. Terraced vine yard on the hill behind the hotel. Its still 2 hours from the match ....
Pine tree plantation
Iust before 9pm, I found this pizzaria with a big LCD screen - just in time for the start of the game.

By half time, I had only finished the soup and salad- my main course had not arrived. Service here is really slow, even for a so called fast food shop - they wait for you to finish the starters before serving the main but I had finished the soup and salad 20 minutes already and the main's not served.
10.15 when I left the pizzaria, its Argentina already lead 3-0 ....and the pain at my foot intenfy....

Wheat field

Poppies in a sea of wheat. Maybe a secret ingredient in the bread here.
Just prior to the crucial Spain-Chile match, I had a little drive around Coswig before heading back to cook. Watching fussball (thats what's called here) with homecook food and a glass of wine is a great enjoyment ....if only I do not need to wash up after that.
btw, today is the longest day in the Northern atmosphere. From now on, it can only get shorter ....

House of dream

Found this during a drive to nowhere after work.
I think its a bar or someting, but was not opened.

Dream

I dreamt of granny again.
I was staring at an empty clear persplex box with a Japanese manga sticker of a blond curly haired girl. She spoke to me from there. Technology had made it possible to preserve the soul after the body was gone. The only thing is ....she had a girlish voice and was telling me her encounters and emotions as if she was a teenager. It made me laugh at the purity of thoughts but I could not recall what was said. I woke up with tears in my eyes.
4.30am and the sunlight beamed through the curtain.

Dresden Flea Market

Went to th flea market besides the Ebe. There are much less traders on Sunday but did find some interesting stuff ....
....like these Nazi badges. Stickers are placed over the Hakenkreuz emblem becaus it is against the law in Germany to display them. I have witness a lively beer conversation with the Germans came to a sudden silence when an outsider made a joke about growing a moustache like Hitler.

Now this one truly iconic, the Trabant is an East German made car not commonly seen outside here, although there are many hobbyists who like them.

BUNTE REPUBLIK NEUSTADT Festival

A 3 day song and dance festivals - we accidentally bumped into the mist of this when we tried to fill out our tummy after foraging at the flea market. It was more of a hastle for us, as we do not know there are supposed to be some indie music somewhere and there was no place to park the car. Its supposed to be a music festival but we did not see any bands playing. We were just glad we can find a sushi joint to eat.

Sorry....I don't get it. And they have to close off the street from traffic....such a long
way to carpark.

Watching German victory from the Ebe

After slurping a so-so 8Euro Pho Bo from Altmarkt, incidentally, a recommendation by the owner of a Vietnamese provision shop, I rushed off to the Ebe to capture the mood of the World Cup game, Germany's first game in 2010. As I approached the river- there was a reverberating roar bouncing off the darkened brick walls of the various buildings - I guessed Germany must have scored ....

There were not too many people - Dresden is not that big after all, and many people were unable to enter the via the small gate leading to the giant screen.
It was pretty chilly ; I was wearing shorts - and soon shivering, despite this being mid summer. Soon, I was back in the car and back to the hotel.
Shot this on one of the bridges across Ebe.

As it turned out, the young Germany team thrashed Australia 4-0. Pretty unusual for a team known for boring conservative play.

Moritzburg

A gloomy rainy day and Schloss Moritzburg is under repair. We saw the biggest antler in the world, its number 28.
Rushed for lunch and managed to find a kebab house that serves pizza.
Family flew back a few hours later....

Cold summer in Dresden....

The food street....

The rebuilding is still in progress ....more grudges from the western front.

Its 15 deg C, what kind of summer is this ?

Halstatt - the vertical hamlet

Nestled between a lake and the mountain.....I don't know why of the places someone decided to build a village here.

As in many places, the true character of the hamlet shows before the arrival of day trippers....roughly about 10am, and after their departure late in the evening.

Stroll and Roll in Tirol

Yes the GPS was not wrong.
Perched precariously at the edge of a rolling Alpine hill (800m up to be precise), we reached this interesting farm

Maurachweg 20
A- 6365 Kirchberg
Family Georg Schipflinger

The kids spend the morning "helping" the with hay gathering.

The apartment is at the attic. The bedroom comes with a balcony with a million dollar view.
